Verdant Opportunities
The slow season in the Upper Peninsula starts around the end of February, this time brings a quietness to the Keweenaw for just a few months before we’re all thrown back into the raging summer tide. This can be some of the best times to hit your favorite hiking spots (as long as you can stay on your feet from the ice and snow) as no one else may be brave enough to take the risk. Alex and myself have been taking advantage of the sunny days that have become more common in the last month. We haven’t hit any trails above calumet lately, we’ve been staying closer to home base and not venturing out much, but I’m sure with the new season starting soon prep is right around the corner.
Speaking on our home base, when Alex and I moved back to the area we moved into an apartment off of recommendation and when we finally did get settled we realized the apartment didn’t match what we needed. So for the last couple months we’ve been keeping an eye out, and we have finally secured a new place that will suit our family a lot better. So since the last blog we’ve been packing up our belongings, organizing, and cleaning our new place. As of writing this we’ve been moved in for a couple weeks and truly feel blessed for this opportunity of an apartment. Also our old place was downtown in Calumet and I’m super happy that our new place is only two blocks away, I love the area and being somewhere we can walk to a grocery store or other shops is really important for us. I also think Jules will do well with something to watch out the window again, and some more sunlight doesn’t hurt.
Our scheduele for the Summer 2025 Season.
Our pasties can be found at the Bear Belly Pit Stop, and our bread boules can be found at The Michigan House. We hope to see you soon!
Back onto the business side of things, We’ve been hard working out where you’ll be able to find us this summer and hopefully bringing our products to some of your favorite store fronts and restaurants. On the farmers market side of things we have been accepted into the Lake Linden Market on Fridays from 3-6pm, Chassell on Wednesday from 3-6pm, and the Hancock market on Saturday mornings from 9-12pm. We’re super excited about the opportunity to share our baked goods to a larger group of people all around the UP.
We also have been brainstorming some new goodies, savory and sweet! So keep a look out this summer for possibly some new flavors and we’ll see if Alex can convince me to start making baguettes again. But if there is anything you’d like to see specifically send us a message on Facebook or email us! We’d love to hear your ideas and maybe in the future even implement them.
Finally we have one more little update for our branding side of things, We have T-shirts now! its kind of crazy to wear them out and getting our tester in the mail was for sure a surreal experience. But the lovely people at The Michigan House and The Bear Belly Pit Stop which serve our products have bought some so maybe you’ll see one when you visit! and if you’d like to purchase one we could see what we can do, and hey you’d get to wear Jules!
The Spring is heating up, and were only a few weeks for the season being fully under swing. Be on the lookout for any opportunities that pop up from us on our social, as we hopefully have ideas in the oven that will come to fruition. And as always, if you have an event that you would like Jules Place to cater, fill out the form on the contact page and we will be in touch.
